The existing site was perfect for the client but more space was desired for entertaining and living. The dining room was the beginning of the home’s intended upgrades which evolved into an entire transformation. The home expanded in every direction including a large increase in livable square footage along with the addition of a four-story wing containing two stacked 3-car garages, and four guest suites complete with private bathrooms. The lines of the façade were modernized with a greater use of glass, a taller great room profile, and new brick throughout.
The front of the home now has a striking presence with a three-story glass entry and a magnificent 45-foot rotunda in the backdrop.
The foyer was lengthened and roof opened up with a barreled coffered ceiling to become a dramatic focal point of the home.
To showcase the client’s passion for books, a floating library was created within the rotunda and is accessed by an independent circular staircase.
Despite its new spaciousness, the living area of the home retains a comfortable, cozy feel.
This beautifully detailed study serves as the perfect in-home getaway.
